Business Aviation Networking Notes

The process of finding out about a job, getting interviewed, and eventually receiving an offer for employment starts with networking. By networking I don't mean sending hundreds of copies of your resume unsolicited to H.R. managers throughout the country, but by establishing contacts with people who may be in a position to hire you or refer you to someone who does the hiring. Let's take a look at some ways to help you break in to business aviation by following certain tips.In corporate aviation, there are several key players in the field that you probably have heard of. Jet Aviation, TAG, and Netjets are some of the larger players and they all have a staff of qualified flight attendants or cabin service representatives on hand. In addition, smaller players including Jet Alliance, Clay Lacy Aviation, and Trans Exec are part of the charter market. Finally, you have a whole host of independent flight departments with one, two or more aircraft. Some of these... Read More

Top Ten Secrets to Saving Big Money in the Airline Flights

Do you know that some people travel around the country and abroad, for both business and pleasure, and save bundles of money in the process? They do that by using little known ways of really taking advantage of the most popular form of transportation - airline flights. They don't rely on the ever-famous "airfare price-wars". They don't rely on their travel agents to save money while flying.Certainly, you should not dismiss these two methods. The price-wars can work to your advantage. But depending on them too much is a big mistake.1. Call the airlines.Call the airlines between midnight and 1 a.m. Monday through Friday to get cheaper tickets. Most people never realize that at midnight, airline agents revise and load new fares into their computers. The best fares are just after they have done the updating!2. Check into other airports other than the main one you use. Many major cities have two airports. Check into surrounding towns and cities so you can compare airfares. You may save... Read More

So You Want to Get Free Airline Tickets: Should You Choose a Reward or Cash Back Credit Card?

If you want to use a reward credit card for getting free airline tickets, you have a choice of choosing a dedicated airline credit card, a travel reward credit card or a cash back credit card. A dedicated airline credit credit card has hefty annual fees and may not be worth it if you are not a very frequent traveller or do not spend enough on your credit card. If you decide to get either a no annual fee travel reward or cash back credit card, how would you decide which is better? This article examines how you should go about making this decision. Let us assume we now have one reward credit card and one cash back credit card to choose from. The reward credit card pays one point for every dollar you spend on purchases. The cash back credit card pays a 1% rebate. Essentially, they both have identical payout formula of 1%. Let us assume both have no... Read More

Airline Security; Stewardesses The Last Line Of Defense!

Introduction:It might come as a chock to many people, including the Stewardesses, but the fact remains that in today's Airline Industry, the Stewardess is the last line of defense! In the 11th of September terrorist attacks, on the WTC and Pentagon, the first victims were the Stewardesses. Savagely attacked by the terrorist on their way to the cockpit's and tortured to pressure pilots, to comply with the terrorists demands.More mundane, but daily occurrences in the International Airline Industry, is unruly passengers. Who endangers the safety of co-passengers and the aircraft due to mental disturbances, alcohol consumption, stress or disregard for airline regulations, such as remaining seated during takeoff and landing etc. or smoking in prohibited areas on smokeless flights. Stewardesses are expected to deal with these travails, as first responders and can if necessary call on the Pilots for help, if the situation is beyond their control. However, first the Stewardesses have to intervene and are often the victim, of verbal and physical abuse... Read More

Airlines, Price Wars, and Branding

Here are some thoughts on the study of the theory of price wars as they relate to the industries like the Airlines and others. Comments on an article in Harvard Business Review in March-April edition 2000. The article was called 'How to Win a PRICE WAR'. Written by Akshay R. Rao, Mark E. Bergen and Scott Davis. They start out the article, that in the game of business, many tactics are used to ward off competitors. Increasingly PRICE is the weapon of choice. It talks about how the quest for market share and market dominance by continually lowering prices by each side of a price war can drive down Industry Profits. Oh Really? But who cares what the Industry does anyway. Is it not the consumer that pays for your dinner and youremployee's kids college tuition? It sites the 1992 Airline wars Between American, Northwest and others as an example. The result was record air travel and record losses. Surely this example cannot be... Read More

Preventing Rapid Decompression In Commercial Airliners

In Flight Airline Rapid Decompression Breached Window (Airline Safety)Here is a concept worthy of mention about the issues concerning Airline International Terrorists and Guns in the Cockpit and of course Federal Air Marshals. If a gun goes off in a smaller airliner, 737 or 767 then a bullet could penetrate a window and breach the pressurization system. Now if you read science fiction there is this cool Author named Ben Bova and in one of his books return to Mars, which is worth a read since we are getting back some interesting photos now. He talks about the outpost and enclosed colony where the hull was breached and the air was escaping, valuable oxygen, the members of the team quickly threw up small patches which as the air escaped flung themselves to the breached hole and sealed by way of vacuum.I propose a similar notion and this is one of the safety protocols of former MIR and International Space Station now. The over... Read More

General Aviation Manufacturing is in the Tank; Hang On It is Going to Get Worse

Change is a constant, Outsourcing Jobs, Capital flows, Emerging Markets are a given and this includes the Aviation Manufacturing Sector as we watch the current Migration pick up speed. It appears that the technological advantage that we have here in the United States is no longer going to sustain us without further advances. Previously our work in aerodynamics (during and after WWII), our industrial capacity and our ongoing capitalization of the aerospace industry was enough to keep us ahead of the game. Currently in the US we see job losses in the aerospace mount in cities like Everett, WA and Wichita, KS. We see other areas trying to carve out a niche in the aviation manufacturing market cities like Albuquerque, NM and Centennial, CO. Yet in reality there are few niches, which do not have many competitors. One new market the mini-Business Jet, seems to be a potential as many companies are building these under 1 million dollar jets. Even so we are seeing... Read More

Hypersonic or Ultrasonic Sound to Disrupt Laser Beam Attack on Commercial Airliners

In large buildings to prevent sound pollution often double paned glass is used with music or flowing air between the panes, this works very well and is sufficient to prevent the noise. Since many commercial airliners have double paned glass already if we are careful to watch the harmonics as to not cause structural problems to the aircraft (remember the Comet), then we propose hypersound or ultrasonic sound within the panes to prevent laser light from entering the cockpit and inhibiting or blinding the pilots. As we recently saw with the Delta Airlines scare where the pilots were nearly blinded by what they described as a laser light, we believe that this idea may be the answer.http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washingt...o_blind_pilots/http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/ showthread.php?t=3967http://www.libertyforum.org/printthread.ph...197&type=threadWe believe such a device could be easily and cheaply built and installed in airliners. Such a device and use of hypersound might even be an option for those who fly into combat where THEL systems are guarding the region. Once seen by the enemy it maybe too... Read More

Airline Fuel Costs Mount

The airlines are huge users of fuel. Fuel costs are higher than even the cost of the aircraft. Surcharges are up to the highest point in the history of the airlines along with the fuel costs at an all time record cost. Airline tickets and airlines live and die on their ability to number one fill up planes and number two, manage their fuel costs. Discount Airlines have been able to keep flights full in order to order to cover costs and keep prices low, but are hurt in quarterly earnings every time fuel prices increase. When fuel prices stay high, you often see massive downward spirals and negative sector rotations in Airline Stocks. Again it is all about the cost and flow of fuel. It is of interest when we hear talk of our National Debt and how important that is. "A Nation is not in danger of financial disaster merely because it owes itself money." The flow of fuel is several times... Read More

Find Cheap Tickets From all the Major Airlines

All of the major airlines are now associated with different web sites allowing for you to find discount airfare and cheap tickets on the internet. One of the reasons the airlines have done this is because so many people now have access to computers and the internet. What does that mean to you as a traveler? It means that as you search the airlines for tickets you can be very selective as to when you go and who you fly with.Airlines offer discounts on the internet. Here's another tip that many people don't know about. If you called an airlines reservation desk and asked for cheap airfares information to a given city, you would be quoted a rate that may not be the lowest you could find. Many times you'll find that the cheap airfares are only offered on the internet, because when booking your ticket online your not taking up staff time telephone expense. If you've never done it before, explore the exciting options available...
